Beginning September 15, 2022, Art Jones will be leading a Bible study beginning at 6:00 PM on The Prayers of Jesus by Matt Williams. (This is a change in study compared to the information shared in the September 2022 newsletter.)
Prayer was the backbone of Jesus’ life and ministry. From his baptism to his crucifixion, the Gospels portray Jesus as a man of prayer who knew and deeply valued intimate communion with his heavenly Father. What can we learn from the prayers he prayed? This unique, in-depth look at the prayers of Jesus will give you new insights into prayer, the character of God, and how to deepen your relationship with him.
Each session is taught by a different instructor and consists of three components:
1 Historical and cultural background, 2 An engaging, close look at the biblical text and its meaning, and 3 Accurate, encouraging, and challenging applications of the Bible’s message to life today.
The six session study topics are as follows: 1 Watch and Pray (Mark 1:32-39; Mark 9:9, Mark 14:32-42) 2 Our God Listens (Luke 18:1-8) 3 Joining in Jesus’ Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) 4 Praying to a Good God (Luke 11:5-13) 5 Praying with Purpose (John 17), and 6 A Friend in High Places (John 14:13-14)
